Details:

This is the view on the R526 looking towards the city centre. The road continues on the right, and in the background can be seen the South Circular Road diverging to the left. The works entrance to the SRR works east of the R526 is just where the cement mixer is emerging from.

Where are we? What's going on?

The N7 Limerick Southern Ring Road phase 2 will pass along the south of the Limerick City boundary, between the city proper and the large suburb of Raheen (in County Limerick). About halfway between the junction at Rossbrien with the N20, and Dock Road junction with the N69, the SRR phase 2 will cross the R526 (the old N20) St. Nessan's Road. This is a major arterial route into the city centre, and will be realigned to cross the SRR on a flyover, extending too over the railway with which the R526 currently has a level crossing.

There is plenty of land for the realignment, as the present route is itself a realignment (straightening), and the land used by the original road was unused.
