Im using a Red Green deck. Basic Aggro really. It almost always plays something for turns 1-4 using all mana each time. Tries to kill by turn 6.
It Uses Turn one creatures or delayed burn to get a 3/3 scab clan mauler on turn 2. Then uses creature enhancers (Moldervine Cloak) to get lots of trample damage in on turn 3. Then Drops some more creatures or Warhammer to bring the opponent into burn range for the final points of damage. If things dont go to plan it uses the Warhammer for life gain to try outlast the opponent.

When do we have until again?
I reccomend the articles at magicthegathering.com, and particularly the Online Tech articles written by Frank Karsten, as an indicator of the state of standard. Another good site is starcity games.

I'm pretty satisfied with my deck at the minute (it's pretty different from what's on the decklist page at the minute). It feels good to frequently beat Rob's deck. And it's also good to know that on wednsday I won 2 out of 3 games against a pure sliver deck. (it was mainly because of teh sidewinder slivers in my deck, and my pentarch paladins, and my lotus blooms which helped me get the pentarch paladins out fast.

i noticed a pretty big flaw in my deck and have since changed it. so we shall see if it has regained its power. put up your changes, and they better include no extra detainment spells!

I haven't put in another detainment spell... yet... it's pretty handy to have a creature that can't be killed unless he's killed by something that specificaly stops regeneration.

In case anyone who wanted to play in the qualifiers didnt already know where to download it here is the link for Apprentice. Its handy for testing how your deck would play out,to see how your draws look, how often you have to mulligan and how fast your deck can do 20 damage and so on. its free. just download the latest version at the link. it can be played 1v1 over hamachi or online.

Ok, according to the latest Online Tech, the 5 big decks in Standard are:
Dragonstorm: A Combo deck that uses mana-producing spells to power up the Dragonstorm card, playing 4 or more Bogardan Hellkites and Hunted Dragons to kill you right there and then. Generally goes off on turn 4 after a Lotus Bloom unsuspends.
Red-Green Aggro: a simple enough deck using many Grull cards from Guildpact, with efficient creatures as beat-down followed by some burn to the head.
Dralnu du Louvre: A Blue-Black control deck which abuses Mystical Teachings, generally fetching Teferi to screw over an opponent and allow further Teachings to fetch any card, including Dralnu, allowing you to recycle all your counterspells.
Solar Flare: An unusual control deck, based mostly around playing as many good cards from white, black and blue as one can. Hard to describe, but considered a very effective deck.
Izzetron: A blue-red control deck based around assembling the "urzatron", the 3 Urza's land combo, to gain mana advantage and play expensive finisher spells easily.
It's very important to note that all 3 of these are Before the addition of Future Sight cards, meaning any number of them could change immeasurably, or become unviable, or be dropped in favor of a newer smoother deck.
Now, in no way are all the decks at the qualifier goign to be this kind of thing, but you should consider them as the better players are likely to use them in some form. Think about cards and strategies you might be able to use to beat them, and build a sideboard that covers as many of them as you can. A way to stop Dragonstorm, either by distrupting their hand, stopping them searching their decks, or countering their key spells somehow, despite the common trick of tapping their opponents lands, should definitely be considered.

after trying it out last night in the practice rounds, ive found: my deck has a weakness to flyers. if i cant burn them im fecked. my rakdos pit dragon can help but he seems too mana intensive.
enchantments are quite annoying but im trying not to use seal of primordium or primeval light as they dont do any damage. Faiths Fetters ruins me. Considoring Indrick Stomphowler as it takes an enchantment and is a 4/4 for hitting.
any suggestions?

Stomphowler is a good plan, as for flyers you might need a little more burn in the deck, not sure. Often aggro players can avoid losing to evasive creatures by racing: Playing their creatures and attacking for more damage than the flyer can do to them.
Remember that in an actual tournament, you have a sideboard available to modify your deck to better suit your opponent. Consider putting anti-flyer defenses and enchantment removal in it, to prevent this happening again.

I use more enchantments tha the average player, but if you have a red/green deck you should have some form of artifact and enchantment destruction in it.
Also about decks to look out for I'd say there will be alot of sliver decks aswell.
I have one cloud chaser kestrel in my deck now... but after last night I'm thinking of putting more in but there are no cards in my deck I want to part with.

alot of players will use faiths fetters though. i might stick with either indrick stomphowler or seal of primordium, for the sideboard. the stomphowler can attack, and the seal doesnt use hand size so i can stay hellbent.
the slivers do take a while to get going so i can race them, you can use your paladins to take out important ones.
put up your current exact list and ill make a suggestion for what to take out. im so happy you never got out the kestrel and palidin against me.

I put up the deck list off of memory. One card is missing from it and I can't remember what it is. I'll post it after I either remember or check my deck to see what it is.
EDIT: I remembered that it was serra avenger.

id take out as many outrider en-kor as you need to make room for the kestrels. They both cost 3 mana The kestrel FLIES, can take out a moldervine cloak, or bounce a spirit loop to be reused, and is part of the kill anything combo. All the outrider can do is sometimes be hard to kill.
That keeps your mana costs and creature numbers the same. how many kestrels do you have? im sure i have a few.

i did up a first run at a sideboard with an explanation in the decklist thread. I put in some artifact/enchantment removal, some burn for removal/race. And some quick race damage cards too. didnt get a chance to look for much antiflier stuff, or check if i have Stomphowlers. Any thoughts on the sideboard? or deck even
and how about you shane? you have a decklist sort of tied down you can show us?
