A New Year For GSoc - 2009/2010
Written by The Committee
Thursday, 14 February 2008

Welcome to GSoc.Skynet.ie, the official website of the University of Limerick Games Society. We welcome all our new members and welcome back all of our old members for the 2009/2010 academic year.

Here for Brocon? The awesome convention we're running in collaboration with UL Anime & Manga Society ?

Go to http://brocon.skynet.ie/ , can't wait to see you there!

Who We Are & What We Do::

UL Games Society was founded in 1989 by John O'Sullivan and Joe Vaughan, with a strong focus on role-playing games during the early years. This element of the society continues today.

The mid-nineties saw the introduction of Magic: The Gathering and Warhammer 40,000 and Warhammer Fantasy Battles, but these did not stop the society struggling for several years. The situation persisted until 2002 when the society acquired FragNET, opening up the world of computer games. From Counter-Strike and Call of Duty at weekly trips to FrontierX to Wii Sports, Mortal Kombat and Halo at the society's popular console gaming days, we support any and all forms of electronic entertainment.

If you don't feel up to a big event just yet, we run a chilled out night on Monday in EG-006, where we'll do anything from Magic, DS gaming, board games or maybe something else entirely like anime watching.

Still the longest running active society on campus, UL Games Society continues to build on what has gone before for the returning members, and welcome all new members with open arms. Our aim is to provide those in UL who enjoy gaming in all forms a way to relax and enjoy their experience while a part of the University of Limerick. And remember:

“Your say is what we play.”

How To Get Involved:

  • Visit our stand at the Clubs and Societies Fair in the UL Arena on Wednesday Week 1 (Sept 9th) from 6pm-9pm. Our committee members will be on hand to chat about what GSoc is and what we do. Keep an eye out for shenanigans. That's where we'll be.
  • Check out the Latest Events Calendar for times of upcoming GSoc Events.
  • Contact one of the Committee members to enquire about Events.
  • Register for the GSoc Forum and ask one of the many friendly members of GSoc a question.
  • Stop by the Official Welcome to GSoc Thread and introduce yourself.
